ps_vid— analytics, up to 400 days: A random identifier that lets us count a returning visitor as one person rather than several. It holds nothing about you and is never shared.ps_sid— analytics, current browser session: A random identifier that marks a single visit, so we can tell one long session from several short ones. It disappears when you close your browser.
Alongside these we store one value in your browser's local storage: a fingerprint hash computed on your own device by the open-source FingerprintJS library. It lets us recognise a returning visitor who has cleared their cookies, so our visitor counts stay honest. It is a hash of browser characteristics, not an identity.
We do not set advertising cookies, and we do not store your IP address or your full browser user-agent string. Analytics run on our own servers — no Google Analytics, no third-party analytics network.
Third-party cookies
When you click through to a merchant, that merchant sets its own cookies on its own site. Specifically, as an Amazon Associate, Amazon sets cookies when you follow one of our affiliate links so it can attribute qualifying purchases. Those cookies are governed by the merchant's privacy policy, not ours.
